On the occasion of the AFEI General Assembly meeting, and the attendance of members from the Arab countries, AFEI organized the conference in cooperation with SEBC under the patronage of the Syrian Minister of industry.

The Conference examined the impact of the global economic crisis, its short-term and long-term consequences, and the role of national/regional employers' organizations.

The conference also discussed the role of the AFEI as a regional organization of employers in developing practical solutions to avoid the negative consequences resulting from the crisis, including the role of intellectual capital management.
